Dust on the Ground || Kate & Laura

howlinglaurahale:

The huntress’ pulse was practically screaming to Laura, and she hated it, hated that she could feel her heartbeat race at every growled word. It made her shake with anger, and she clenched her fists, not caring that her claws were still out. She unfurled them and straightened her shoulders, shifting from foot to foot as she stared Kate down. “You get off on it, don’t you? You just love knowing that you can keep tearing the wounds open, and jerking us around like nothing’s changed.” She questioned, lip curling in anger. Some part of her would keep that knowledge tucked away somewhere, would take her own change of heart rate into consideration, but she wouldn’t think about it until all was said and done if she could help it. Her eyes flitted to the woman’s tongue for just a second, and she narrowed her eyes at her, taking another step forward. Laura snapped at that, at what was to her another dog comparison that she couldn’t stand. What made it worse was that it was true, Kate always had a way of pushing her buttons and pulling strings, even before she knew what she was doing, before she tore their family apart. The she-wolf lunged, grabbing Kate around the waist and leaping until she was pinned against a tree, her hands pressing down on her shoulders. She was shaking with anger, her fangs flashing for a moment before she pulled them back in. Laura’s claws scratched at the bark of the tree, and she had to close her eyes for a moment, keeping her composure so she wouldn’t break Kate’s shoulders or snap her spine against the tree. “I told you not to call me that.”

Kate chuckled softly at the wolf’s next question, fingertips trailing lightly over Laura’s left arm for a moment before she pulled them away with a smile. “To a certain extent, of course I do. I wouldn’t be Kate Argent if I didn’t get off on the fact that you could potentially tear my throat out, now would I?” she questioned in return, slightly raising an eyebrow. She was going to say something else but she was cut off with her back meeting the tree behind her. She grunted softly, eyes falling shut for a moment. Well that caught her off guard, but it wasn’t unexpected. After a second or two she opened her eyes back up to once again meet the gaze of the seething shewolf in front of her, the playful yet somewhat devilish smirk that she sported so much once again gracing her lips. Taking note in how careful Laura was being about hurting her too bad, it only added fuel to Kate’s fire. She knew she had leverage over the girl, whether she denied it or not. “You really know how to get a girl going, sweetheart. We should have done this a long time ago.” she mused, her eyes glittering with a mischievous playfulness. “Hm, just like I told you I would call you what I want.”
