Dust on the Ground || Kate & Laura

howlinglaurahale:

A low growl rumbled in Laura’s chest at the comment, but the woman was right. She wasn’t struggling against any visible force, she hadn’t had the air slammed out of her, she was just fighting herself. It made her wolf that much more angry, that she was being taunted by the huntress, and it made her more human side angry that Kate had the ability to do it. “I’d make sure that you stay dead this time, Kate. You think you’re hot shit because you came back once? So did I, everyone’s doing it these days.” She grinned at Kate, faux sweetness dripping from her voice  as she pressed in, her claws extending. “Shut up. Shut. Up.” She gritted out, all but snarling at the woman again as she scratched at her skin. Laura blinked at her, thrown off slightly by the grunt and the way the other woman stared her down, entirely too cocky for a woman pinned to a tree by a werewolf. But Kate knew that she’d never been violent unless necessary, that she lost her temper and got angry, but that she wouldn’t kill unless she absolutely had to. She’d never killed before, not like Kate, and the woman was dangling that in front of her face. “I was showing restraint because I’m not like you, Kate. We’re not what you think we are, we’re not wild things that can’t hold back.” Laura knew that tracking her down and all but growling in her face didn’t exactly help her argument, but she was too angry and riled up to care. “We’re people. We have hearts, and we have feelings, and we scream and bleed and hurt. You weren’t there that night, Kate. You didn’t hear it, you didn’t feel the heat and you don’t have a wolf that can still feel the loss of pack.” The wolf’s eyes shone red then, her anger getting the better of her, and her fangs flashed as she leaned in to whisper into Kate’s ear. “But maybe that’s the problem. You don’t know. You were always so fascinated with us. so I won’t kill you, Kate.” Laura moved closer, her claws leaving marks on the huntress’ wrists as their chests pressed together. “I’ll make you wish you were dead. I’ll make you what you’ve always hated. Tell me, Kate - you know what our eyes mean, don’t you? What color would your eyes be?” At that, Laura growled low, the memories of the fire and her family flooding her mind, along with the memories of two girls growing and learning and losing themselves somewhere in the crossfire. She was lost in her own head, and her wolf took over as she sunk her teeth into Kate’s skin, where her neck and shoulder met. Laura held on, her jaws clenching down to make sure that the bite stuck, that Kate could feel it. Her tongue laved at the bite as she pulled away, and she chuckled against it, chest heaving. “Is that what you wanted, Kate?”

“Go ahead then, kill me. That’s what you’ve talked about doing this whole time, and I’ve yet to see it. Come on now, don’t be all bark no bite.” she cooed, chuckling. The inner struggle Laura was having was visible in her eyes, and it was egging the huntress on more and more. Kate tensed a little more as she felt the familiar feeling of claws digging lightly into her skin, but she kept her face relaxed. As the wolf spoke, all of the memories Kate had been pushing to the back of her mind came rushing forward and she felt like she was suffocating all over again. Laura really was clueless, as was the rest of her family. Kate cared for them, maybe even more than most of her own family of mostly heartless killers like her father, and that’s what had been her downfall. Shaking off the thoughts, she just smirked. Before she got the chance to think up a reply, the wolf pressed to her, leaving Kate almost literally breathless. She could feel Laura’s heart pounding almost in sync with her own, and it was driving her more wild than she was willing to admit. It wasn’t until she could feel every breath from all the words tumbling from the other woman’s mouth that her body shuddered, her eyes falling shut. At this point she was only catching on to bits and pieces of what she was saying, and she heard a question about eye color. What? Her mouth opened but instead of words, an audible moan tore from her throat when she first felt the teeth pressing at her neck, the sexual tension finally getting the best of her. That only lasted a moment, because as soon as they started to tear flesh Kate let out a cry of pain, writhing and squirming under the wolf that had her pressed to the tree. Once the clamp of fangs finally released her she relaxed slightly, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she was panting out breathy whimpers. Her whole right side was throbbing with a searing pain, but she remained strong –for the time being. It took a moment for it to actually hit her.

She was just bitten by a w o l f. She was going to be t u r n i n g.

As soon as that thought sunk in, she felt like she was going to throw up on top of the pain, her head starting to feel light as her mind whirled. She wanted to cry, she wanted to just bleed out right here and be done with it –that’s what she was going to be expected to do anyway. She was no longer acceptable, no longer able to even go home, she would only see Allison one more time if she was even lucky enough for that. Everything for her was about to take a drastic change, and she wasn’t sure she was ready. But she had to be. She was Kate Argent, she had to put on her game face and let it all roll off her shoulders. If she could.

Taking a moment to somewhat gather herself, she forced a small smirk to her face, her eyelids fluttering open. “Is that what you wanted, Laura? To punish me like I haven’t gone through enough, just like you? Oh that’s right, I’m a horrid bitch that isn’t allowed to have a real story. Not only have I lost one family, now I’ve lost both.” she started off, referring to losing both the Hales and now her blood family. “Do you feel satisfied now, hm? Powerful? Are you happy that you’ve stooped to the level that you assume that I’m on, now that I’m completely alone without a soul to fall back on? Good for you, sweetheart. You did it.” the huntress added, a hint of pained venom to each word. At this point her eyes were glassed over with tears that she refused to let well in her eyes, she couldn’t let herself be that weak. Her frame was trembling with both emotion and pain, but she didn’t care.
